About Us

Our Story

Established in August 2008, Groomed to Go Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to provide clothing and support services to those in need. Groomed to Go started its journey as Dress for Success Mornington Peninsula, a local branch of the globally recognised Dress for Success organisation, empowering women to achieve economic independence through a dressing and job support service.

In 2018, we changed our name to Dress for Success South East Melbourne, to more accurately reflect the broader community that we serve. In 2019, we recognised a need in the community for our services to support people from all walks of life and circumstances, not only women, thus the Groomed to Go brand began it's official use, with Dress For Success South East Melbourne as our support program for women.

Our Board

President

Gillian Holden

Gill is the Director of Clover Lane Consulting. With over 20 years of experience in people management, and a degree in Business and Human Resources, Gill’s expertise revolves around the evolution and future of employment/recruitment practices. Gill is an executive and career coach, delivering 1:1 coaching, and organisational key notes. She is a resolute and positive organisational and individual change representative, with an overall business consulting and Human Resource advisory vocation, supporting industries, including, but not limited to, healthcare, NFPs, and local government. With a career spanning across practice, business, and operational management, Gill uses her skills to communicate the parallels of people and employment opportunities, and the part in which we all play, for the future of modern talent acquisition. Gill dedicates her time in educating organisations and prospective partners about the importance of their engagement when considering an ethical, equal, and modern people solution for the betterment of organisational Human health.


Gill is a direct value alignment with the Groomed to Go ethos. Her steadfast support of the organisation with first-hand volunteering, business development, and the overall organisational model, secured the Groomed to Go confidence, in electing Gill as President of the Board 2024. With her passion for elevating the presence of our human design, Gill is excited for the future of Groomed to Go, and the part that she will take, alongside volunteers, employees, and fellow board members, in contributing to, and creating positive outcomes for all.

Vice-President

Samantha Gowan

Samantha Gowan began her career in Training and Development, focusing on customer service, sales, and management training. She kicked off her professional journey at National Mutual Royal Bank, later acquired by ANZ bank. Transitioning to General Motors Holden, she spearheaded the Cadetship program. After GM, Samantha established her own training consultancy, specializing in communication skills. Committed to empowering others, she finds joy in assisting people in reaching their aspirations. Samantha has her Associate Diploma in Adult Education and Training from Melbourne University. With a family now, Samantha collaborates with her husband in various ventures, spanning finance, entertainment, and sustainability. Since 2022, she has dedicated her time to volunteering at Groomed to Go, aiding clients on their path to confidence and financial independence. 

Secretary

Geraldine Field (Williams)

Geraldine (Geri) is a lawyer with over 30 years of experience in large law firms, currently with MinterEllison.  She has extensive experience in advising regulated entities particularly in the financial services and funds management industries.  As a consequence she has highly developed analytical and problem solving skills in helping people to find commercially acceptable solutions to complex issues.  Geri believes wholeheartedly in the work being done by Groomed to Go, helping people experiencing disadvantage to obtain appropriate clothing, styling and skills to aid them in finding a job which in turn helps improve their self-esteem and enable them to move forward positively with their lives.  She is excited to be joining the talented and passionate team of people at Groomed to Go, and is looking forward to helping Groomed to Go to continue making a difference.

Treasurer

Rebecca Carey

Rebecca Carey (Bec) is a Chartered Accountant, registered tax agent, and Director of RC Accounting & Advisory. She brings over a decade of experience in public practice, providing compliance, taxation, and accounting services to small and medium-sized businesses across a range of different industries, including ecommerce, entertainment, and hospitality. Bec is committed to education and empowerment, with a passion for making financial knowledge accessible to everyone. She believes in helping women recognise their financial worth and build the confidence to achieve long-term financial independence. As part of Groomed to Go, Bec is excited to contribute her financial expertise to an organisation that aligns with her values of empowerment and community support, working to help people take control of their financial futures.

Christine Graham

Christine Graham is a dedicated professional with a wealth of experience in both sales and healthcare. With 14 years in sales, including running her own successful business, and 18 years as a registered nurse, Christine brings a unique perspective to any board. Christine’s skills in customer service, leadership, negotiation, training and problem-solving are complemented by her ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and clients alike. Her passion for both professions is evident in her commitment to excellence, making a valuable addition to the Groomed to Go board. Christine has been a volunteer with Groomed to Go since 2018 and understands the intricacies of the day to day activities and is passionate about seeing G2G move into its next phase of growth.

Sarah Millar

Sarah is a journalist, editor and communications expert with 20 years' experience working across media, communications and marketing. She knows the value of a good story told well. From the busiest of newsrooms, to the creative hive of agencies, to establishing content experiences for some of Australia’s most recognisable brands, Sarah has spent her professional life hunting out the best stories and finding audiences for them across different media. She has extensive experience in content and communications strategy across B2C, B2B and Enterprise and combines the perfect mix of strategy, creativity and operational expertise to lead and manage projects.

She is passionate about financial empowerment and education, and in giving everyone an equal chance to achieve positive life outcomes. She is excited to help Groomed to Go continue to make a difference and to tell their story.

Paula McNicol

Paula McNicol has over 20 years experience as a Generalist HR practitioner in a range of industries in both corporate and consulting roles through her own business. Through work, and in life generally, Paula has a passion for helping others become the best version of themselves through self-development and empowerment. As a strong advocate for women, Paula was impactful in the male-dominated construction industry executing her personal mission to even up the gender ratio through recruitment, training and promotion.  Paula has been a volunteer at Groomed to Go since 2022 enabling a comprehensive understanding of how Groomed to Go positively impacts the lives of our clients on their journey to financial independence.
